CONCERT IMPERIALI features music from our acclaimed recording 'Schmelzer & Co' which was written for the Imperial rulers during the 17th century. Instrumental music by Schmelzer, Bertali, Ferro, and Neri shows off all the instruments in what at the time was the latest fashion: 'Stylus Phantasticus'.  This programme for mixed instruments, as specified by Schmelzer, shows of the red-blooded, emotive and virtuosic approach to writing and performance which shone a new light on these instruments and ensured their survival in Austria right through into the 18th century.
