Caecilia Concert lights up the Dome

On Monday August 27th, the wonderful Caecilia Concert gave a magnificent performance at The Utrecht Festival Oude Muziek. Their beautiful music, of Buxtehude and collegue-composers, lighted up the Utrecht Dome Church. Although the acoustics where a bit echoing, the ears where quickly accustomed to the sound and one could really let oneself float away on the music. The instruments, being a cornetto, trombone harpsichord/organ, violin and dulcian, are not something to witness live at a concert every day and that makes this ensemble so special. On the other hand this instruments where a lot more common in the old days, the time of Buxtehude and co. The ensemble played for the most part material of the new cd. Luckily there is this cd, so we can hear all of the music at home as much as we want.
